Subject Description

Future Thinking encompasses the Australian Curriculum learning areas of Science and Mathematics. Students participate in a series of units which combine STEM thinking, to engage and develop mathematical and scientific skills.

Students will tackle both abstract and practical problems where they will develop their questioning by constructing hypotheses and conjectures. They will work collaboratively and individually to carry out practical investigations. 

Students develop rigor in mathematical processes. They complete problems, leading to transferring the facts, skills and procedures to a variety of different situations.

Assessment

Students receive an overall Future Thinking grade which is broken down into:

  • Mathematics
  • Science

Assessment tasks are a combination of integrated and stand alone skills, including tests, research reports, practical reports and investigations.
