Year 8
In year 8 it is all about the options. Yes, you take charge and get to build a big part of your week.
You can pick 8 from over 24 subject offerings.
You must pick 1 from Area 1, 1 from Area 2 and 1 from Area 3, then the next 5 picks can be taken from any of the four areas.
In addition to this, please pick one language offering for the year and two semesters of Health and Physical Education. This option includes selections from our Middle School Sports Academies.
As part of Year 8, students further their understanding of protective practises, resilience, empathy and 'knowing themselves' through a deliberate Pastoral Care program that follows the Australian Child Protection Curriculum and coachable aspects from the Life Buoyancy Institute and their Resilient Impact training.
Toward the end of Year 8, students attend a camp in Robe, where they explore the region by foot and undertake a series of tasks, experiences and learning opportunities that link with their Integrated learning of Future Thinking and Global Perspectives. The camp also presents opportunities for students to reflect on their year, personal growth, as well as consider their individual wellbeing, and the wellbeing of others.
