Languages Week at Tenison Woods College is celebrated to raise awareness of the benefits of language and highlight the linguistic diversity in our community. Our world is becoming increasingly connected and interdependent with Language learning becoming an essential skill for life in the 21st century, helping to broaden personal, social, and cultural and employment opportunities.
More than 240 languages and dialects are spoken in Australia today and Languages Week provides an opportunity to explore and celebrate language learning.

This week there have been a range of lunch time activities derived from the variety of languages and cultures we have here at Tenison Woods College, with some more later in the week. Students have been encouraged to attend as many of the events as they would like across the school
Earlier in the Week:
Monday - How well do you know the languages and cultures of Tenison Woods College? Students participated in a quiz to show your knowledge and to learn about the different cultures here at Tenison Woods College.
Tuesday - Bruschetta e Bocce! Students came along and try a piece of home-made Bruschetta cooked by our very own Prof V with the assistance of Year 9 students.
Tuesday - Junior School Bocce: Students were given the chance to come and try bocce out on the JS Oval at lunch time with Mr Paparella.
Today:
Wednesday - Olá! Students were given the chance to learn about the journey of one of our very own year 8 students and learn how to speak some Portuguese. Milena Calista Parreira is going to take us through her life in Brazil and her move to Australia. She also taught us how to speak some Portuguese!
