Geography students from Years 8, 10 and 11 have enjoyed two different Geography excursions, one to Bucks Bay and another to Telfords Scrub.
Year 8 Coastal excursion to Bucks Bay
Tenison Woods College Year 8 students got the chance to visit Bucks Bay at Carpenters Rocks last Thursday and the weather was glorious. The trip was a huge success and the students were very engaged and enjoyed learning about the coastal processes evident at this location together with seeing a range of landforms up close.
Thank you to the Year 8 staff for supporting this event.
Senior Geography
The Year 10/11 Geography class are currently investigating ‘Fire Management in the South East’. Last Tuesday afternoon the students worked in small groups to collect data from the Telford Scrub Conservation Park, located just north of the airport.
With the assistance of Eamonn Carey from the Department for Environment and Water, the class measured the fuel load evident inside the park itself and discussed how fire could influence this particular park.
Since we have returned to the classroom, students have been writing up their findings and presenting the information on their very own Google Map.
Thank you to Ms Lloyd who attended the excursion with us.
