Friday 29 March saw the 2019 USA Titans Basketball Tour group hold their bi-annual auction evening for 315 guests and supporters. It was a wonderful celebration of both past and present tours, acknowledging those who have paved the way for our current students to participate in lifelong learning experiences. This is also the launch of possible future partnerships/programs Tenison Woods College students will benefit from by generous and committed school community members.
Guests were treated to a 2-course meal catered by the amazing Sugarloaf Café staff and the College Hospitality Academy, while the 2019 tour students seated patrons, waited tables and engaged with community members to ensure an enjoyable evening was had by all.
Three auction lots had a range of different goods and services with all items generating plenty of interest and generous bids. A highlight of the evening was the launch of the Barrie Holmes Memorial Foundation, a foundation dedicated to Tenison Woods College student-athletes ensuring opportunities and experiences are accessible for them to continue to strive and achieve their goals. All money raised from the evening is going straight to the student tour participants. This will help reduce some of the significant costs families have with students participating in the 2019 Titans USA Basketball Tour.
Another special moment of the evening was Sarah Nulty and Oli Thomson being named the 2019 Barrie Holmes Memorial Basketball Scholarship recipients.
The Titans tour group would like to acknowledge the following supporters:
Ben and Kristyn Jones and staff from O'Connor and Graney for auctioneering and clerking; Sugarloaf Café staff and the Hospitality Academy, the Finance team, High Performance Education staff for running the bar, North Gambier & West Gambier Sportsman’s Clubs for assisting with equipment for the evening, all businesses and families for their generous donations of goods, guests who attended and supported the evening and finally families and friends who assisted with organisation/set up of the evening.
