On Friday 22 March, three College students received recognition for their work in the South East Art Society, ‘Open Art Awards’ at the Riddoch Art Gallery. The exhibition featured work from local artists. Entries ranged from paintings, works on paper, sculptures, ceramics, textiles, photography and video.
In total, there were 68 entrants with 137 works submitted.
Year 11 Art student Matisse Schmidt received the Patron’s Award for her piece, titled “Greta”. She was also awarded first place in the “Young Artist Award - High School Age” category, for her work, titled “Big skies after Ruisdael”.
Year 10 student Mitchell Evans was awarded second place in the “Young Artist Award - High School Age”for his untitled landscape piece.
College Poplars student Amaya Gamage was awarded first place in the “Young Artist Award - Primary School Age” for her artwork, titled “Pencil Rhino” Please refer to Amaya's story in this Newsletter.
