New lunchtime activities a hit

06.03.19

New daily lunchtime activities are attracting a good response from students. Each lunch break at the College now provides activities for students of all ages to take part in.

From traditional groups like Chess Club and Debating, to Digital Coding and even a College Radio Show!

The new activities promote the ‘I’, ‘N’ and ‘E’ in the College’s 2019 “SHINE+” Motto, being I get Involved, N known by Name and E Enjoy positive Emotions.

Along with the lunch activities, ‘Shine Study Groups’ are available for students to take advantage of. Students in Years 4-9 can work on their homework or seek study support at lunchtimes on Monday and Friday, while Senior School students (Year 10-12) can study in the PRC Common Room after school on Thursdays with the support of Mr Sean Quirke.

The Shine Study Groups are a great option for any of the following reasons:

  • Perhaps students find it hard to study at home and feel they get more work done at school.
  • Students may want to get some homework done before sports training or work (if they can't get home beforehand).
  • Students may work with friends.
  • Students may want some support with Maths (Mr Quirke is a Maths teacher).
  • Students would like assistance in coming up with a study timetable.
