As we prepare for the season of Lent which begins today, Ash Wednesday, we first celebrate Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Day as it is commonly known. On Tuesday 5 March, almost 1000 pancakes were cooked and served with the money raised being donated to Project Compassion.
Traditionally, people have used Shrove Tuesday to consume all of the luxury food items in their house in readiness to fast and to live simply during Lent.
A special thanks goes to Mrs McCourt and the team at the Sugarloaf Cafe for preparing the pancake mix and the CIM Team, Mrs Edwards and the Year 7 students for cooking the pancakes.
Today we marked the beginning of Lent, with Ash Wednesday liturgies for all students from Early Learning to Year 12. All staff and students were marked with ash as an outward sign of the inward changes we try to make as we journey towards Easter. We acknowledge that we all have things we can do during Lent to grow closer to God through the Lenten themes of prayer, giving to others and going without things we may not need.
