Our Awesome Author of the week is Alex Gittins. Alex produced a delightful piece entitled “Elephant Ride”.
Alex's class was set an English assignment by their teacher Ms Pearce, where they needed to ‘share a personal experience which changed their life’. Alex's recount in the style of a short story engages the reader with its detail, reference to sensory responses, and its charming humour. In fact, in reading the text, I could clearly envisage the large and angry ‘geese-like birds’.
Alex is a Year 9 student who joined the College community in 2018, upon completing her primary schooling at Mulga Street Primary School. She is a very creative and forward thinking young lady. Her hobbies include hockey, piano and reading. When asked about her ‘two favourite things about Tenison Woods College’, she smiled briefly and responded with, “my friends and the opportunity for studies in art and graphic design”.
Well done, Alex!
