Mia Watt was a recipient of the Fred Hollow’s Humanity Award where she was presented with a Certificate at the Adelaide Town Hall on Friday November 16, along with the other South Australian recipients. The highlight of the Ceremony was meeting Gabbi Hollows who is the Director of the Fred Hollow’s Foundation, along with the Governor of South Australia, Hieu Van Le and our Treasurer, Rob Lucas.
After the ceremony Mia got to speak with Gabbi who was very excited to meet her, Gabbi told her ‘she had very fond memories of being in Mt Gambier and that Fred would have been very proud of your fundraising and volunteering efforts’
Mia was nominated for the award for the fundraising that she has done through making keyrings. To date Mia has donated $975 between Ski for Life which is a Charity event that her family are involved in, as well as sending much needed dollars to the drought stricken NSW area of Wee Waa. Mia also volunteered after school and through the holidays at AC.Care and St Vinnies with her Mum. I get to help children at Christmas time with the packing and delivering of Christmas Hampers and gifts, this is so rewarding to help others less fortunate than myself.
Mia looks forward to continuing making and selling keyrings and donating the profits back into projects that need support.
