Mount Gambier Fruit and Vegetable Swap

31.10.18

Every second week the Tenison Woods College is involved in the Mount Gambier Fruit and Vegetable Swap at the Public Library adjacent to the Farmers Market.

The Mount Gambier Fruit and Vegetable Swap is a place to share knowledge and swap your excess fruit and vegetables, cuttings, plants, seeds and seedlings. There is no membership or commitment, no money changes hands and everything is shared. Not only can you fill your pantry with local home grown fresh produce, but in a sustainable way to increase your fruit and vegetable intake, reduce waste and network with like-minded community members.

For some years now Tenison Woods College has supported the Fruit and Vegetable Swap each fortnight by volunteering to run the market stall and using excess produce through the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program for meals which go to the Sunset Community Kitchen. We are currently looking for student volunteers to assist with running the fruit and veg swap, if you are interested and able to help for an hour on some Saturday mornings please contact Jen McCourt on mccouj@tenison.catholic.edu.au or 87244600.

Swap Dates for 2018:

  • November 3rd and 17th
  • December 1st and 15th and 29th

Where: Mount Gambier Public Library Veranda

When: 10 am - 10.30 am
