R U OK? Day Tomorrow

11.09.18

Tomorrow, students from Early Learning to Year 12 will be involved in R U OK? Day. This is a national day of action that reminds us all to check in on our family and friends on a regular basis to ensure they know we care about them and are there if they need support. Pastoral Care classes for students in the Junior School will focus on activities based around how to be a good friend whereas the older students will increase their understanding of symptoms, triggers and possible support networks to assist those in need.

Highlights of the day will include a wide range of activities throughout the College, with the main events being held during lunch time. Some of these activities include:

  • Face painting
  • A treasure hunt
  • Emotions and feelings games in the ELCC
  • A Junior School Disco for R-5s run by the Senior Students.
  • Selected stalls including a barbeque, smiley face cupcakes, jellies, Milo
  • Football competition
  • Scavenger hunt
  • Headspace will set up an information booth and lucky dips for students
  • Students will have the opportunity to meet care dogs
  • Games on the oval run by the House Leaders

The day will begin with a whole school prayer, and the R U OK? Song instead of bells, which should set the scene for a very successful day.  The food for sale will be either $1 or $2 to cover costs.

Please note, this event is not a fundraiser.

R U OK Day’s official colour is yellow and students may like to wear a yellow accessory, i.e. t-shirt, ribbon/bow, hair tie/s, wrist band/sweatband, socks, etc., to show support for this day.

We look forward to tomorrow, beginning conversations and asking R U OK?
