In Term Three, 3BESMK were going to learn about Australian Geography. As an avid traveller, gypsy and experienced caravan enthusiast I thought long and hard on how I would share my knowledge of Australian geography with the class. After all, I lived in a caravan travelling for three years as a child.
I decided that I would ask friends and family if they could send my class a postcard sharing places they have lived and travelled. After receiving three postcards I decided to source further and asked on a caravan and camping forum on social media. The interest in my project was well received and in week one of Term 3 there were 40 postcards from all over Australia waiting in my pigeon hole.
The learning experience has been phenomenal with the class learning about tourism, natural and man-made landmarks, cities, towns and Indigenous sacred places. The students were so excited to read the postcards being sent from travelling families, grey nomads and people going on short and long term holidays.
