Tenison Woods College STEM team is excited to release the jam-packed calendar of events coming to students, a celebration of STEM learning during the month of September.
Kicking off on Monday 3 STEMtember, each day there will be a wide variety of STEM themed events on around the college.
From robot coding to designing a sustainable classroom out of shipping containers, 3D printing to balloon powered cars, there is something for every student. These integrated learning sessions are designed to inspire, and foster student's inner curiosity for problem solving using critical, creative and collaborative skills through STEM based activities.
Vestas, world leaders in wind energy, will present to a variety of year levels on a range topics including career pathways, STEM in the workplace, and a day in the life of a Wind Technician. Vestas plans to engage the student and staff audience through virtual reality experiences, simulating what it is to work at heights of 80m. This event will be a highlight for students, with the day extending an invitation to the broader community, with Vestas presenting a brief presentation and following Q+A session.
STEMtember also features an initiative called GreenSTEM, and through the launch of a Sustainability HQ Competition, students will have an opportunity to design their own sustainable classroom.
With up to 6 activities per day, there will be a buzz in the air as students participate and get to experience the importance of STEM based learning.
Parents / Carers and Teachers are also catered for, with some sessions running in the afternoon, along with Teachers who have already participated in a large range of Staff Professional Development opportunities which have been running across the college since July, throughout August and will continue on into STEMtember.
We welcome attendance and ask all parents / carers to view the attached calendars, talk with their children and encourage them to attend a STEM session as often as they can during the month of September.
