Feast of St Mary MacKillop
Today, Wednesday 8 August, we celebrate the Feast Day of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop. St Mary of the Cross is enormously important in the South East of South Australia. St Mary and Fr Julian Tenison Woods served the poor and vulnerable and began the Sisters of St Joseph to educate the children of the area who could not afford to attend school.
As we walk in the footsteps of St Mary of the Cross and Fr Julian Tenison Woods, we are reminded that there are always humans who need us to stand up for what is right in order to protect them and their dignity. Their inspirational lives provide us with a true example of having the courage to attend to the needs of others.
Thanks for Sunset Community Kitchen
This week the College received an email from the Sunset Community Kitchen thanking us for all we do to assist them in their work. The Sunset Community Kitchen provides over 80 takeaway meals and 40 sit-down meals each and every week. Staff and students assist in many ways donating both time and money to various projects that support the work of the Sunset Community Kitchen and are proud to be associated with the great service being provided by this organisation.
