The Tenison Woods College Term 2 Chess Competition saw Year 9 student Gay Lay Htoo Ku take on fellow Year 9 student George Wimshurst in the final. The final match was set for Week 1 of Term 3.
A well-constructed series of moves in the mid-part of the match enabled George to set up a strategy and force Gay Lay to make a series of moves that led to him being locked in Checkmate.
Gay Lay and George approached the match with a very high level of concentration and game play that was great to watch.
Congratulations to George and thank you to all participants who took part. It was great to see the students develop their skills and show a mature approach to the competition.
