Students experience the forestry industry for National Schools Tree Day

01.08.18

Six classes from Tenison Woods College were fortunate to participate in National Schools Trees Day, last Friday. This year, the College worked in partnership with OneFortyOne Plantations to share the important role forestry has had in shaping our Green Triangle community and learn more about the timber industry locally. Students ranging from Year 1 through to Year 8 planted approximately 3000 pine trees at the ‘Six Mile’ cell, located in close proximity to Tenison Woods College.

We hope that this experience can be one of many more to come, and look forward to working with OneFortyOne again in the future. The initiative of an evolving curriculum offering, GreenSTEM, links sustainability related themes with STEM thinking. The day was well supported by many teachers and parents from within our community and a big thanks to OneFortyOne Plantation staff for making the day such a success.
