Throughout the recent break, Tenison Woods College students celebrated some great sporting success. The college was represented in both football and basketball over the two-week holiday period.
In the first week of the holidays four students travelled to the Sunshine coast in Queensland for the Under 16 National Basketball Championships. Emily Dawe and Sarah Nulty performed well, although the final results didn’t reflect their efforts. Both girls played a very good tournament and represented the College and our state with great pride.
Oli Thomson and Harry McInnes also took part in the Basketball Championships. The boy’s team had a very successful tournament and enjoyed strong victories against tough competition. The South Australian boys progressed to the semi-finals, where they finished fourth in the country. An outstanding effort by all four College Titans.
The SANFL State Junior Football Championships also took place last week and Tenison Woods College had 14 boys represent the Glenelg Football Club in the Under 15’s and Under 17’s competition. Oscar Adams, Sam Hayes, Braeden Thwaites, Lachie Burtt, Harry McInnes, Kade Varcoe, Billy Shanks, Harry Tunkin, Darcy Porter, Tom Yates and Mitchell Sims represented the College in the Under 15’s. All 11 boys played exceptionally well throughout the carnival and did the College proud. The team progressed to the semi-final, however went down to Central Districts. The Under 17’s team had a terrific tournament – going undefeated and winning the ‘Crows division’. Tye McManus, Finn Grimes and Alex Harkness featured in the best players across the three games.
