Each year, Year 10 students participate in a compulsory Work Placement of their choice for one week. Ella McIntyre, Samantha Braithwaite and Rosie van Eyk rotated through a number of departments at the Mount Gambier Hospital, providing valuable exposure to a range of health careers - see above photo.
The work experience program supports the career exploration work undertaken in the Personal Learning Plan (a SACE requirement) and enables the student to explore possible career paths for the future, and leads to informed subject selection for Stage 1 and 2. Work Placement for the majority of Year 10 students took place this year between 2 and 6 July.
Students completed placements with a range of local employers including the City of Mount Gambier, Dale Cleves Music, Sir Robert Helpmann Theatre, Benson Radiology, Mount Gambier Health Service, Blue Lake Vet Clinic, Mil Lel Primary School, The Mount Plumbing Service, Vanity Make Up Bar and Body Lounge, Lake City Transport, Lonergan and Muhovics, Hyland Fox Signs, Esmart Electrical and Penola Primary School. We’re indebted to the support these – and many other local – employers continue to provide our students.
Tenison Woods College respectfully acknowledges the Boandik people are the First Nations people of the Mount Gambier South Eastern region of South Australia and pay respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, past, present and emerging.
