Celebrating our Founders
This week, we take the opportunity to reflect on our founders; St Mary of the Cross MacKillop, Venerable Catherine McAuley, Fr Julian Tenison Woods and St Marcellin Champagnat. We recognise the contribution they made to our College and our community. We also celebrate the way in which we can follow in their footsteps of faith, action and community in a way that brings life to our school, parish and local community.
Today, students in Champagnat and Woods came together for a shared recess (Champagnat) and lunch (Woods) in the Multi-purpose room at the College. We are appreciating student participation in events this week and look forward to the Whole School Mass to be held on Thursday 14 June at 9.00am in the Barrie Holmes Stadium. I welcome parents/carers and family members to join us for the Mass.
Cans, Coins and Casuals for a Cause - Hands Up Help Out
Also this coming Thursday 14 June, students from across the College will participate in our first ever whole school 'Charity Day' to assist in raising money for the less fortunate members in our wider community. There will be activities throughout the day, run by Student Leaders. Activities will be starting at recess and finishing up at the end of lunch. Students are encouraged to bring some coins and cans of food, and wear their casual clothes. Cans will be donated to Vinnies, with proceeds raised on the day to local charities. Each Sub School has nominated their Charity:
At lunch, our local Rotary Clubs (West and Lakes) will be supporting the day by selling a variety of foods, including potato spirals ($4.00), popcorn ($1.00) and pizza ($5.00). There will also be a BBQ ($2.00) provided by the Sugarloaf Café and noodle/rice stir-fry ($2.00) provided by the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program. All providers will be donating their profits, which is gratefully appreciated.
Special thanks to the College Captains, Evangelia Wichmann and Daniel Ker for showing outstanding leadership in the wonderful organisation and facilitation of this event.
