On Monday 28 and Tuesday 29 May, the College held a Design & Technology Conference for teachers in the South East.
By holding this conference in Mount Gambier, we have been able to form a solid hub group which will focus on improving the standard of design and technology in the South East. The conference was a great opportunity to bring teachers together and talk about the programs we are teaching here at Tenison Woods College and what is offered at other schools in the South East.
The conference had a strong focus on how best to integrate STEM and new technologies into our curriculum. We witnessed demonstrations on some amazing new technologies such as laser cutting machines. The highlight of the two-day workshop was by far the presentations from invited industry experts such as Tools for Schools, Trotec Laser and Industry panel experts from engineering, electrical, carpentry and TAFE SA. Teachers were able to form new connections with these industry experts, which in turn will assist in preparing students for the working world.
Overall, the conference was a great success and every teacher left with a new mindset on how we can best deliver our programs to students.
