Year 11 Tenison Woods College student, Hannah Elliott has been nominated for a South Australian Athletics Female Athlete of the Year Award. The presentation ceremony will be held this Friday 25 May in Adelaide.
Elliott, who competes at a National level in both Cross Country and Athletics, has just returned from a 21-day trip to the USA, winning five out of seven races. Hannah found the experience invaluable in encouraging her to try out new strategies with her racing.
“Competing over there, you have no idea of your opposition, how they run, whether they lead or come home strong, so you have to be very focused every race”, Elliott comments.
Hannah also represented South Australia at the Australian Junior Championships in Sydney in March, competing in the 800m, 1500m and 2k steeplechase. She achieved personal bests in all her races, but unfortunately did not make it onto the podium.
Hannah is one of twelve athletes to be granted a scholarship for a place in the Limestone Coast Regional Sporting Academy, and SA Athletics have also chosen Hannah to be part of their Target Talent Program which runs for 10 months.
Well done Hannah!
