On Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 May, over 30 students and staff participated in the Generations in Jazz Festival. Held at the Barn, this Festival attracts over 5000 students from around Australia who participate in the biggest school music festival in the Southern Hemisphere. The annual Festival combines band competitions, choir competitions, workshops, concerts and always inspires our students.
With performances from international and national musicians, students love the atmosphere created by being amongst so many music-loving students. Our Tenison Woods College students performed extremely well and we are very proud of their success.
With some very young members, Big Band came 6th out of 24 in div 4+. Congratulations to all students and their Director Marie Holmes. Both of our choirs were pushed out of their comfort range into higher divisions than normal and they have worked hard leading into GIJ to learn the required music. In Division 3 our Concert Choir (directed by Marie Holmes) came 31st out of a huge 51 schools in this division. In Division 2 our Senior Vocal Ensemble (directed by Beth Creedy) came 16th out of 21, a fantastic result!
Congratulations to all students and staff involved.
