Congratulations to Year 12 High Performance Sports Program student Luke Wight who competed at the National Track Cycling Titles in Brisbane recently. He rode the 3rd fastest time for his Under 19 Men’s 3km Individual Pursuit.
This time enabled him to ride against the 4th place competitor in what was to be a successful bronze medal ride off.
During the Titles he also recorded the fastest time of the event riding 3:19.77 minutes.
According to his coach based on his current performances, he is on track to make the competitor list to go to the "Worlds" in Switzerland in August later this year.
Congratulations to Luke for this performance!
And following in the footsteps of their big brother, sisters Amy Wight (Year 10 HPSP) and Tess Wight (Year 9 HPSP) will be competing in various events at the National Junior Track Championships from the 21st to the 24th February in Melbourne.
Tess is competing in the U15 Women’s category and has a goal of making the top 10. Amy is competing in the U17 Women’s category and this is her first time making the State Team. They both are most excited to compete at such a high level as sisters.
Well done and good luck Wight family!
