On Monday 10 April, old scholar and AFLW Adelaide Crows premiership player, Jenna McCormick visited us at Tenison Woods College. During her visit Jenna spent time with students in the HPSP and IGNITE Program and shared her experiences as a professional sportswoman, in both Soccer and now AFLW. Jenna’s engaging conversations inspired students and included a sing-a-long session where she played the guitar and sung with a group of girls.
Jenna’s talks allowed students to get a glimpse of the challenges and finer points of her sporting pursuits. Questions were asked by students, with the knowledge learnt from the experiences of Jenna helping these students to follow their ambitions for their own sporting pathway.
Once sessions were completed, Jenna was presented to the school in style, with a Meet and Greet ‘Under the Sails’ at lunchtime. Jenna was welcomed with many fans screaming and singing along to the Adelaide Crows club song. Jenna signed autographs for students, spoke to them and asked questions and also much to the excitement of students, had some free giveaways.
Principal David Mezinec was proud to wear Jenna’s Premiership Medal, as well as accepting a gift on behalf of the college; two signed Guernsey’s which will be displayed at the college, one that represents her football/soccer career and the second to represent her AFLW success.
