Year 6 Tenison Woods College student Kai Allen enjoyed a good weekend on the race track from 31 March to 2 April in Geelong, Victoria. Kai competed in Round 2 of the Australian Kart Championship in the KA4 Junior category, and claimed first place.
Kai was sitting in third place for a majority of the race, but patiently waited until the final laps to strike.
Allen was able to close the gap to Australian Champion Cooper Webster. He took his opportunity to snare the lead and crossed the chequered line 1.5 seconds ahead of his nearest rival.
Kai and his family will be off to Monarto in South Australia at the end of May for Round 3 of the Australian Kart Championship.
Tenison Woods College respectfully acknowledges the Boandik people are the First Nations people of the Mount Gambier South Eastern region of South Australia and pay respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, past, present and emerging.
