Congratulations to Year 9 Student and HPSP Athlete Jacob Armitage, for achieving two Bronze medals at the National Athletics Championships held in Sydney recently from 26 March to 2 April. Jacob achieved 3rd in U16 Triple Jump as well as 3rd in the 4 x 100 U16 Relay Team. Jacob was very excited to win two bronze medals at only 14 years of age. Competing at a National level was an amazing experience and a learning curve, and he is excited about his future in this sport. As well as Jacob’s two placings, he also performed well gaining 7th place in the U16 Long Jump. The event was threatened by heavy rains in the area, but luckily was able to proceed.
Jacob will continue to train for various smaller events leading up to the School Sports Australian event held in Adelaide, December 2017. He also has his eyes set on competing at the World Youth Championships. We look forward to following his progress and future achievements. Congratulations Jacob!
