Last Friday, 31 March, Tenison Woods College held the Year 3-7 Sports day at Marist Park. It was a very big day on the sporting calendar and is the culmination of a term’s worth of athletic practice and trialling. The morning was devoted to track events including 100m sprints, 200m sprints and hurdles. Students raced in divisions decided upon by time trials earlier in the term. After recess the focus was field events including shotput, discus and long jump. The Year 6/7’s also competed in high jump, whilst the 3/4/5’s ran a X-Country course around the Sugarloaf. After lunch the open 400m event was run for each year level, followed by house relays, sprint finals and one of the premier events of the day; house leaders vs staff relay. After a very lack-lustre performance last year from staff where they blew a race winning lead to lose in a photo finish to McAuley, this year they loaded up with talent and redeemed themselves to win in another tight finish. The final part of the day was presentations of individual year level champions and the winning team. Every event which students entered gained them points for both themselves and their team. These were all tallied throughout the course of the day and the final results are as follows:
Overall Team Placings:
1st Place Champagnat (Green) 4715 Points (winners for the 5th year in a row!)
2nd Place McAuley (Red) 4106 Points
3rd Place MacKillop (Blue) 3538 Points
4th Place Woods (Yellow) 3104 Points
Year Level Champions:
Year 3 Girl: Maggie Collins 88 Points Woods (Yellow)
Year 3 Boy: Riley Lawrence 98 points McAuley (Red)
Year 4 Girl: Indiana Lawrence 92 Points McAuley (Red)
Year 4 Boy: Freddie Muller 108 Points Champagnat (Green)
Year 5 Girl: Paige Exelby 82 Points McKillop (Blue)
Year 5 Boy: Jonty Collins 94 Points Woods (Yellow)

Year 6 Boy: Jack Berkefeld 110 Points Champagnat (Green)
Year 7 Girl: Rori Perryman 96 Points McAuley (Red)

A big thanks to all participating students and families that came out to support them. It was a long and very physically active day and I’m sure there would have been a lot of tired people on Friday night.
