On Wednesday 22 March the Year 6 to 9 Enviros of Tension Woods College participated in a beach clean-up at Blackfellows Cave. During the day the students collected a massive 200kg of waste which is a significant amount for 17 students, considering the whole college collected 540kg of waste during Clean Up Australia Day. The majority of things that were collected during the clean-up were rope, plastic strapping and drink containers, all of which could have been tangled up in or consumed by sea life. The Enviros were grateful to have had the assistance of Katrina at Conservation Volunteers Australia, Tania from the Department of Environment Water and Natural Resources, staff member Chris Lloyd and parent Andrea Jones-Price on the day. The day helped shape our understanding of our impact on the environment and we look forward to many more clean ups!
