Newsroom
What a busy start to the year we have enjoyed in the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden lessons.
Year 4 students have now completed their Occupational Health and Safety training for the garden and kitchen areas and have planted brassica crops and made fruit salad with their new knife skills.
Thank you to the many parents who have helped with these lessons, your presence helps to create an environment where students can engage in an extended range of practical skills.
Year 7 students have been busy designing their own nourish bowls with garden ingredients and have also risen to the Fruit Art Challenge with enthusiasm. We are busy in the garden harvesting the summer crop, weeding and enjoying hundreds of sunflowers which have bloomed this week. Many thanks to Sustainability Coordinator Tom Linnell who has guided Reception students through the process of designing and installing upcycled pallet planter gardens for their playground area, these students will enjoy cooking lessons towards the end of term.
Key Volunteer Needed
We are currently looking for an enthusiastic parent or grandparent within the school community who could volunteer for four or five hours a week (maybe two mornings or hours as suitable for the right person) to help us with our Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Gardens. This role will include some work with classes, some weeding, watering and general garden upkeep as per the season. Volunteers will need to be able to engage in some bending and lifting and have a Catholic Schools Police Clearance. Please contact Jen McCourt at the College on 8725 5244 or at mccouj@tenison.catholic.edu.au if you are able to help.
