On Thursday 14 September students from Early Learning to Year 12 were involved in R U OK Day. This is a National Day of action that reminds us all to check in on our family and friends on a regular basis. Throughout the week in Pastoral Care classes, younger students participated in activities based around how to be a good friend whereas the older students looked at developing their understanding of symptoms, triggers and possible support networks to assist those in need. In association with this there were a wide range of activities throughout the school at lunch on the Thursday. The gym and mall were alive with activities and the camaraderie between students and staff was great to see. Activities included:
• Face painting, a treasure hunt and 'emotions and feelings' games in the ELCC.
• A Junior School disco in the gym for Reception to Year 5's run by the Senior Students.
• Under the Sails was a barbeque, smiley face cupcakes, jellies, Milo, football competition, Scavenger hunt and music for all.
• Headspace very kindly set up an information booth for students which was well attended.
The day began and ended with the R U OK? Song instead of bells which created a lively feel to the environment, adding to a very successful day. A very big thank you to the Wellbeing Team and their support crew for embracing the day and working hard to make it such a success. It is getting bigger each year – can’t wait until next year!
