Mathematics Homework help for Parents

21.02.17

Don’t Panic! How to help your children with their Mathematics homework.

When: Wednesday 8 March at 7.00pm in the PRC Lecture Theatre.

Who: Parents of students in Years 8-12 (may also be of use for those with children in Years 6-7)

Is it a long time since you did maths at school? Are you finding it a struggle to keep up with what your children are doing in their maths lessons? Does your child look at you with disdain when you offer to look at their work? Or maybe you’re a confident mathematician but want to improve your children’s learning environment at home.

This session will be a light-hearted but informative look at how you can best help your child put their best work forward and reap the benefits of effective practice. It should take about an hour in total depending on the discussion that follows.

Topics will include:

  • Using a growth mindset.
  • Setting up a good work environment.
  • Using the text book.
  • Online resources available.
  • How to assess whether your child’s work is good when you don’t understand the maths.
  • Managing assignments and how to read task sheets and assessment criteria.
  • Coping with stress and making sure your student is in the right class.

If you think that this would be helpful and you and your child/ren would like to attend, please go to this link: https://goo.gl/yNzcJV to RSVP
