For the sixth year in a row, Champagnat were convincing winners at the 8 – 12 Swimming Carnival held at the Aquatic Centre on Tuesday 14 February 2017, scoring 1,889 points.
The day began with freestyle, breaststroke and backstroke, followed by the medley and the relay.
The top 8 shootout was a highly anticipated new addition to the schedule this year, showcasing the strong swimming talent at Tenison Woods College. In two of the most intense races of the day, Year 8 students Hayley Pearson and Archie Muller finished the 50 metre lap in their respective male and female divisions just milliseconds before their competitors, taking out the titles of fastest boy at 29.32 and girl at 30.84.
The fun continued with novelty events including volleyball, water polo, the big bomb, frisbee toss, spoon scramble, tyre tube relay, obstacle course and the fill the bottle relay. These all enabled the students to splash around and enjoy the great weather with friends, while also gaining points for their house colours.
